On the road again!

We realized this morning that a week from now we will be in Connecticut! In one week we will be in 4 different countries! We're in the airport now on our way to Barcelona. Early Monday morning we're off to Jerusalem. A final farewell to our favorite city then finally making the big schlepp so be stateside.
We had a wonderful time in Dublin. Yesterday we visited Christ Church Cathedral and St. Patricks Cathedral. We learned that Dublin is one of the only cities with 2 cathedrals of the same religion. Afterwards we had a great tour of the Guinness factory. We learned not only how they make the delicious beer, but that the Guinness book of world records was created because barkeepers needed a book with answers of world records to break up bar fights. Today we did a tour of the Dublin Castle that was freshly cleaned because Queen Elizabeth visited from England last month. Afterwards, we headed over to the Jameson Whiskey distillary. We did a taste testing and compared American, Scottish and Jameson and learned what a difference triple distillation makes.
This trip has been all about getting a taste of Europe. We look forward to returning to London and Ireland (and adding in Scotland) for another trip in the future. These were the stops that we really felt as if we barely scratched the surface and we left wanting to see more.

museum day

We had a great day at the Tate modern and British museum. Highlight of the day- running into our friend Josh dorsh at the Rosetta Stone. He was on a few hour lay over from Philadelphia on his way to Israel. We thought we were going to see him tomorrow. What a great surprise!

end of Berlin

We had a great last day in Berlin. We saw lots of Egyptian art & artifacts and the Ishtar gate that lead into the ancient Babylonian city. We saw more remains of the Berlin wall and ended the day with a excellent beer before our overnight train to Amsterdam. What a great city!

Berlin day 1

We had an AMAZING day tackling all there is to see in Berlin. We started at Checkpoint Charlie and saw where the city was divided by the Berlin wall. We headed over to the Berlin's Jewish Museum which was about a 4 hour time commitment. It was a true tribute to the German Jews and the thriving Jewish World that existed before the war. This is a must see museum. A truly honest, appropriate and moving collection. We were able to see and art installment that I studied in my Israeli art class on WUJS this year. Afterwards we saw the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag/Parliament buliding and the new memorial to the Jews murdered in Europe. This new art installment cost about 40 million dollars and is unique in it's own with over 2,000 stone slabs right in the center of the city. Underneath every name of a Jewish victim of the Holocaust is listed. With 24 hours left in this city we're excited to see what it still has to offer, but ready to rest our feet & shut our eyes for the night. Good night!
